Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated 30 May 2026 · Version 2026-05-30
CaskMatch is a serious whisky cask marketplace built around trust, verified inventory, and clean introductions. This Acceptable Use Policy sets out what you must do, and what you must not do, when using the platform. It supplements our Terms of Service.
CaskMatch is a product operated by Katonah Platforms, LLC, a Delaware (USA) limited liability company. This policy supplements, and is governed by, our Terms of Service.
1. General principles
- Be truthful. Profile, company, and listing data must be accurate and up to date.
- Be commercial. CaskMatch is for serious cask owners, buyers, brokers, and traders — not for casual flipping, speculation, or experimentation.
- Be discreet. Inventory data, pricing data, and anything else you see on the platform is confidential to CaskMatch and its users.
2. Listing rules
If you list casks, you must:
- Own each cask you list. Brokered or third-party stock is not permitted. CaskMatch removes duplicate listings, inflated pricing chains, and uncertain ownership by design.
- Be able to provide proof of ownership on reasonable request, including a valid Delivery Order and any supporting documents a buyer or CaskMatch may need.
- Provide accurate technical details, including distillery, spirit type, vintage, cask type, wood type, current ABV, bulk litres, OLA, RLA, and the latest regauge date.
- Keep listings current and remove or update them as soon as their status changes.
- Avoid duplicate or misleading listings.
3. Bidding and engagement rules
If you express interest or place bids, you must:
- Bid in good faith and at price levels you are genuinely prepared to honour. Walking away from agreed prices without a valid technical reason damages trust and may lead to suspension.
- Respect platform bid limits and quotas. Attempting to bypass them through multiple accounts is prohibited.
- Use structured pre-agreement messaging as intended. Do not attempt to leak identifying information before introductions have been made.
4. Anonymity and off-platform contact
You must not:
- Identify, contact, or attempt to contact a counterparty outside the platform before the identity reveal step has been completed.
- Leak another user’s name, employer, photo, phone number, or contact details to any third party.
- Use CaskMatch to scrape, harvest, or build third-party databases of users, listings, prices, or contact information.
5. Confidentiality
Inventory data, pricing, and any other content visible while signed into CaskMatch is confidential to the platform and its users. You must not copy, redistribute, scrape, mine, or publish confidential content outside the platform, except where strictly necessary to complete a transaction with a counterparty introduced through CaskMatch.
6. Prohibited behaviour
You must not:
- Use CaskMatch for any purpose that is unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, or in breach of sanctions or anti-money-laundering rules.
- Submit false or misleading listings, bids, valuations, or documentation.
- Attempt to circumvent CaskMatch’s introduction model in order to avoid subscription fees or to extract data without a licence.
- Use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or AI agents to access, ingest, or monitor the platform without our prior written consent.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the platform.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the platform, or breach or attempt to breach any security or authentication measure.
- Upload viruses, malware, or other harmful code, or otherwise interfere with the operation of the platform.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users or CaskMatch staff.
7. Enforcement
We take this policy seriously. Where we have reasonable grounds to believe a user has breached it, we may take any of the following actions, at our discretion and without prior notice where appropriate:
- Limit, suspend, or terminate the user’s account.
- Remove or hide listings, bids, or messages.
- Reverse identity reveals where they were obtained in breach of this policy.
- Refer the matter to law enforcement, regulators, or other third parties as appropriate.
8. Reporting concerns
If you believe another user has breached this policy, please tell us at admin@caskmatch.com. We treat reports confidentially.
